Our Founder
Devon Corbin is a natural networker. He is not afraid to meet new people from all different walks of life. During his professional career he has learned that meeting people “Where they are,” is more than a suggestion, but rather a choice.
As an Associate Director of Corporate Engagement for one of the nation’s largest nonprofits supporting young adults, Year Up, Devon found that adaptability and support will take you far. Devon was able to migrate effortlessly through multiple sites and program models in his four-year tenure with the organization, before deciding to start his own nonprofit. At these sites, Devon was a supportive team player who has worked both in and outside of the classroom to better prepare young adults to be successful in some of the nation’s largest employers.
Helping others has always been Devon’s passion. Prior to Year Up, Devon spent nearly 2 years in the Northeast, working at Dell Technologies in Inside Sales. During that time, he strived to be the best, even during the largest acquisition in technology history (Dell and EMC). While at Dell Technologies, Devon worked in several Diversity Employee Resource groups while continuing to support outside organizations including mentoring and taking classes at Northeastern University. Ultimately, he found he could merge his two passions of sales and social change by training the next generation of how to navigate these environments.
Devon often finds himself as the intermediary in an ongoing debate of “means to an end” and “defining moments” with anyone he encounters. He will roll up my sleeves to make sure outcomes are well beyond expectations. He is very adaptable to change and encourages others to be equally accepting.
“Imagine what the world is missing simply because people do not have the support they need to launch their dreams. I hate to think of such a great loss. We need the diversity that a robust entrepreneurial community brings. This is analogous to the need for Hollywood to have diverse actors of all experiences and identities. The art suffers if there are not actors from varying background to capture the human experience. Similarly, without creating access for entrepreneurs, the world is missing out on the genius of others.”- Devon
